Meeting the Need of Future Cobbers

Meeting the Need of Future Cobbers

Fay Ferguson '73 shares her story in this brief interview. You can also see the full interview with Fay to hear her hope for the future of the college and other interesting perspectives.

According to a recent survey sent to alumni and friends of the college, respondents shared that the most common motivation for supporting Concordia is also our greatest need: making college more affordable. Creating scholarships is the best way to help meet this need and support future generations of Cobbers.

Fay Ferguson '73 saw the need and took action by creating the Diversity Student Endowed Scholarship. Along with Dr. Earl Lewis '78, Fay showed up for Concordia by establishing this fund and supporting its growth.

Giving Now and Later

Fay chose to set up an endowed scholarship now with outright gifts, which allows her to watch the fund grow and witness the impact on students' lives. You too can influence the lives of students now by creating your own named endowed scholarship.

Setting up a testamentary scholarship through your will is another way to support students later—a legacy gift that will benefit the college and students for years to come. See more information on testamentary giving through your will or living trust.

P.S. The current financial environment is ideal for using appreciated stocks and securities as a giving tool, allowing you to set up an endowed scholarship now while reducing capital gains taxes. Learn more about outright gifts of appreciated securities.
